misc

It's been a while since I posted, but there isn't much new going on.

After my recent failed attempts to enjoy the Florida outdoors, I decided that my weekends were better spent doing lab work. It's not hindered by the weather and - it's free! And what did I get in return for going in early on a Saturday morning? I burned my hand. Unfortunately, I wasn't doing anything cool/dangerous or stupid/funny. I was just casting a gel, something that I do pretty much every day. Notice the splash marks on my fingers! Two weeks later and it's completely healed, no big deal. But it was quite an attention-getter for several days.

I saw Wall-E and Wanted over the 4th of July weekend. Both were very cool. Actually, Wall-E was better than cool. It was probably the best movie I'd seen since moving to Gainesville. The amount of emotion and meaning that they were able to pack into the first half of the movie was amazing. I was torn about seeing Wanted; I really like James McAvoy, but really DISlike Angelina Jolie. However, the cool action sequences made up for her presence and the stupid plot. It was really, really cool.

The big move to Iowa is less than a month away. It's getting exciting! If you watch my "soaked" video below, you can see some boxes and empty shelves in the background.

foiled again

I've posted before about how annoying and unpredictable the weather can be here. Tonight's walk with Sheba re-iterated that point.

But, it's a nice warm night and a little water never hurt anyone (my ipod may be another story). And the cute look on Sheba's face as she squinted against the rain was almost worth it.
